Thoughts about the current KB

These are my thoughts that I came up with while reviewing the KB before we went live. I think we need to more documentation both about the KB, and IN the KB before we invite beta testers. If there isn't anything here to do, we won't get much of a test. Thoughts?

We should post the welcome letter somewhere on the KB, so the connection can be made that they are in the right place.

We should have posted the welcome letter on the KB, so we could have tested out the feature of having us all edit it, and then publish it when we were ready.  Maybe we should still do that?

We need to make some sections (maybe not top level sections, not sure) for things like:
1.  Post a question.
2.  Post a white paper.
3.  Post an event.

We need something that is available to everyone that says:

You can look at all this data anonymously.
If you want to ask a question, you need to create an account (so we know who to contact with the answer, or follow up questions).

If you want to post an event, you need an account (so above regarding questions)

If you want to post a white paper, you need an account.

We should probably document the different levels of access.
Anonymous: Read most
Base Account: Post questions, post papers, post events, only viewable by upper level
Moderator Account (Maybe on a per section are): Can view the questions, papers, events.
Publisher Account: This is the account type that can take one of the things that has been posted, and make it viewable by the public.

We should also make some timelines for some of these documents.  If someone posts a white paper, and we send an announcement out to the NAV6TF to look at it.  Maybe it needs to get a threshold of viewers to sign off on it before it is published.  Maybe it needs 20 people to sign off on it to publish it quickly.  After 30 days it only needs 10 people, after 90 days it gets published (unless there are negative comments posted about it).

Get my drift.  We set up the KB, but we don't have the input and output methods defined yet.

Is that the final logo we are going with?  I thought we agreed to have one of the official Forum logos up there.  While it is a snazzy logo, I think the IPv6 is just too huge.  Looks weird.  What about:

--------------------------
"IPv6"       (Forum Logo)

"Knowledge Base"
--------------------------

If we want to discuss any of these points, I think we should do it on the KB.  Exercise it ourselves, and use that as a test.

I guess if we release it to beta testers, what do we want / expect them to do.  My guess is that they are going to open up the site, see that it works, maybe make an account, and then leave.

If we actually populate the KB, with documents that we created about how we made the KB, and documents about the flow, and discussion about how it is going to be used, we can
A) get input from these beta testers
B) get feedback on our thought processes to create them
C) Exercise the system as it was intended.  Granted the data will be about creating the KB, rather than the production KB which will be about IPv6.
