About This Seminar
This "Next Generation Government Networking" Training Seminar will provide an overview of IPv6, why it's important, and what agencies should consider now to look beyond the minimum compliance requirements. The course
- Begins with a historical overview of and brief introduction to the Internet Protocol in general and then provides foundational concepts as to why the 6th version of the protocol was developed, starting in the early 1990s.
- Presents the current status of the global transition to IPv6 and the key tenets of how a transition should occur, including a look at the elements of a transition plan.
- Discusses transition mechanisms designed to ease the migration to the new protocol, as well as an overview of the technologies and features of the IPv6 protocol.
- Presents IPv6 security issues with a focus on maximizing security during the transition period and security policies that should be considered.
- Explores Web 2.0 and collaborative architectures along with potential next generation applications for agencies.
